What is chlamydia?

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection that lives on the warm and wet lining inside your pee hole, vagina, butt hole or throat. Therefore, you can get chlamydia without having sex. It is treatable, but you can get it over and over again. It often shows no symptoms, the only way to know if you have chlamydia is to get tested.

How do you get chlamydia?

How to treat chlamydia?

95% of the time antibiotics treat Chlamydia. If you test positive for chlamydia, you and your sexual partners should take the antibiotic treatment as well as screen for other common STI’s.

Chlamydia typically goes away within 1 to 2 weeks. You should avoid sex during this time to prevent transmitting the disease. Your doctor may prescribe a one-dose medication or a medication you’ll take daily for about a week. If they prescribe a one-dose pill, you should wait 7 days before having sex again.
